Eventuell...man weiß ja nie.
//
There were many happy hours the last weeks and months, so many, that somehow I seem to have disappeared inbetween.
I really wonder how I managed to work so much the last few years. I
still collect pictures, work daily, enjoy the spring, but only secretly.
Officially I'm tired and thoughtless. Well, actually mostly
tired, and only a little thoughtless, always missing the time to finish my
thoughts. So, here's a random review of the last weeks/months in
pictures, at the same time a preview of things to come. Maybe.. you'll never know.
1. Auch Piratenprinzessinnen haben Kronen // 2. Eröffnung des Hinterhofateliers // 3. Magnolienblüte in der Wilhelma // 4. neues Logo ja, nein, vielleicht // 5. fränkisches Frühlingserwachen (tümpelt) // 6. Wunderkammer // 7. Karlotta coloriert Charley Harper // 8. Frisch lackiert: Danke, Montana, für Flipper und Copper Chrome. // 9.

drucken // printing

Still obsessed with the quest for paradise on earth, I'm printing some random doodle from my sketchbook. A dream home, maybe?! Well, the beginning for a new year full of pressure (in the most positive, printing way, of course) is set. Whats your vision of paradise?

//
Allright, that might sound a bit depressed, but please don't jump to conclusions - it's just what I spent the last days, weeks with, folding the gray. The cranes get ready for take off again, now for the fourht time.
A commission I was happy to work on. Just forgot how much work it is really, all this folding.. te littlest crane is made from a 3x3cm piece of paper. The last piece was made in 2009, you remember?

BIG news!!
//
lot of things going on here, some bad news and some good news. bad news first of course: after talking to several architects und construction engineers we had to bury our plans for rebuilding the barn in our backyard and transform it into a 2-stories studio. sigh, it's a great place for all kind of insects etc, but too rotten to invest real money. so we decided to use the only usable little room, the former launrdy room and turn it into a little rough printmaking workshop. see whats in there, j my love brought me this huge old press!! i am so excited and wonder if i will be able to work with it. thank, you, j!
so, the real good news is: i have rented a new studio!!! yay! from the midst of july i will be moving all my stuff to the new room, which is not as sexy as i imagined, but very professional, light, warm, and the best thing is mr. b., my new landlord, who made all this possible. finally karlotta will have her own room in our little house and things going forward. i am so SO excited!!

wieder am schnitzen // cutting again
//
weekend!! this means working days for me. i have a new comission work to do and as i only have time to work on weekends, i really have to pull this one off with lots of concentration and energy. on the occasion of the soccer world cup 2010 in south africa, 11 german and 11 south african artists were invited to submit an art edition for the project "identity and otherness". this will result in an art portfolio which will be sold in order to support the work of release e.v. in stuttgart and the khomanani primary school in soweto. there will also be exhibitions in johannesburg and stuttgart. i feel so honored to be a part! more about this later on, now i'm off to cut block 2 and 3. happy weekend!

home work

last saturday i have rearranged my work space at home, it was so necessary! my house and its rooms are tinytiny, so i have to use each inch of space very wisely. my boards, drawers, boxes were nearly to explode! i could move all that stuff to my studio at the nordbahnhof, too, but as sure as i love it there, it's surely not a place i have big faith in.
first, no way to store fine paper goods, too humid, too dusty. and second, i don't trust my roomies at all. my studio rooms are on a second floor appartement of the old train station house, where some people illegally live instead of legally work. it's such a messed up place, a perfect place for artists studios, but living there?! well..
sometimes this is really getting on my nerves, sucking my energy, time, spirits. i wish i could afford another, professionel studio this size, where i don't intrude some hippiesque lifestyle with my way of daily work and nobody intrudes mine. but rents here in stuttgart are horribly high! so, all my hopes are on the renovation of the barn in my backyard and the printing studio that hopefully will develop there.
so, i enjoy my newly arranged home desk a lot!! and now, concentrate and off to the studio, theres still some serious printing to be done.
