it's about time! remember the limited edition print i worked on beginning of the year? well, this sunday, may 30, at 12.30 pm the grand show opening will take place at the kunstgebäude am schlossplatz in stuttgart.

dieses wunderschöne buch kam gestern ins haus geflattert und hat meinen tag gerettet! endlich ist es da, das buch zum wohlbekannten print&pattern blog, dessen autorin bowie style auch dieses werk zusammengestellt hat. das beste daran: ich bin mit drin, yuhuu! ich freu mich riiiesig und fühle ich mich gleich um welten gesünder. was für eine große ehre zwischen all den vielen wunderbaren künstlern und designern gefeatured zu sein. das buch ist wirklich toll, format, druck, layout, inhalt, perfekt. man kann es hier käuflich erwerben. vielen dank, bowie!

new stuff for the shops

so, finally - the very new and unfamiliar feeling of being a married woman (hehe, still wondering..) has kind of settled and i found the time to post some new things in my dawanda shop, hopefully will list them on etsy this weekend...

here's a closeup of the keyrings i made from wood, of course handcut, painted, printed, polished and each one of a kind. i think i will not produce them big time, as it is quiet an effort to make them. so, only a few available!


then i made a new version of this print from 2006, which i titled "stammheimer fruehling" it translates into "spring in Stammheim". Stammheim is the part of Stuttgart where i live and has a, well, "famous" history. In the 70ties, some of the leading heads of the RAF terror group committed suicide in the Stammheim High Security Prison, where also the court trials were handled. They called this time the "Stammheimer Herbst", which means the "Autumn of Stammheim" and it was one of the most dangerous and political heavy times of terror that Germany had to deal with since the war.. everybody in Germany connects Stammheim only with these horrible happenings and almost nobody knows how beautiful and peaceful this place is, outside the penitentary...........so, yeah, the coin always has two sides... When we moved into our little house in Stammheim in 2004, i discovered a box with old black and white photos from J's grandma. She was a very -ehm- lively girl in her younger years and there was this photo of her and one of her dates, all dressed up and looking like young Bonnie and Clyde, having a romantic rendezvous in the spring blooming park. I made this linocut from it and well, called it - Stammheimer Fruehling. For me it also symbolizes the start in a new life that J and I have kicked off when moving to Stammheim and sometimes we proudly perform under the name of "Stammheimer Fruehling".

Gee, I hope I got this all right in english words, not that there will be any misunderstandings..but anyway- the print is available in shops now ;)

why's da sky blue? - miniprint

last week i worked on new stamps and print plates and ruined quiet a few. somehow my hand was not as steady as it should be and the easiest things went wrong. at least, the last and most important stamp i made, late at night, cut very carefully, almost like a linocut, the little birdie above, came out just the way i wanted, even a little better! yay! i tried to give the lines a more calligraphic look, more edgy. they remind me a bit of comic style lines, like in a marvel comic..
anyway, i then used it as planned for a new edition of miniprints, made another stamp for the lettering and colored the little bird by hand with thinned ink- and here it is:


just asking! suggestions, anyone? ;)

new in the shop!!

oi, times are busy! last week my little cousins anne and frederic came for a 5-day-visit, so i did not find to work on anything, even though i urgently should have, but - we had so much holiday fun with the kids, will post later about it... but NOW - here's something new for the shops:

i felt like the 'love is all you need' - postcard could need a little facelift, so i carved a new text stamp and altered the design a little. the lovebird now rests on a delicate twig, ready for take-off....what do you think?!



and here's the little BE birdie again, saying 'tschilp!'out loud (which equals 'chirp!' in german words) on a brandnew series of moleskines. theres also a different color version available, soon to be listed...

but right now, i have to go out in the heavy pouring rain ( i wonder where this comes from so suddenly) to get paper supplies from the shop on the other end of town. pffff. great time to go and buy and transport delicate japanese papers through that humid mess. for real, it did not stop raining for the last 40 hours or so, and the water is not just dripping, it's pouring!! monsoon in stuttgart! sucks. on the other hand, good reason to stay inside, at the homework desk, sip on green plum blossom tea and work quietly on new prints and papers. so i don't feel too bad about not going to the studio and not printing the missing numbers of the comission print edition. (which, by the way, i have submitted a week ago and which was very well received. yay!!!!)

wow, time flies when you are having fun....indeed! its more than a week gone since my last post, so many things happened! my comission print is finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!

it came out great, but was SO hard to print. i messed up 50% of all prints with the last block, a pity, but theres no other way to do it. i felt so much pressure while printing and was pretty nervous, too, but needed to stay focused and calm, concentrated and decisive. i tried to work the samurai way - take your decision within seven breaths... and it helped a lot! on tuesday i felt like getting a fever, headache, cold, everything at once. i am used to this kinda "body behaviour" or physical reaction, i usually get real sick two days before opening a show or ,like this time, before submission date.

oh and in the meantime, while the prints were drying, i made some new collages with the black cat, white cat print. i love it! better than the original print....want to do more like these, but have to reprint cats, first. this one is listed in my dawanda shop.

made these little houses stamps and postcard sets yesterday night, maybe thats why i have overslept way too long this morning. my head feels damp like the rainy (finally rain!) weather outside. the garden is very thankful, though. d a h e i m , by the way, means home/at home in german.

already in a stamping mood, i also made these little greeting cards with flo the fox:

new prints and souvenirs

ay, i am quiet proud of this new titmouse print !! well, the print is actually not new, but the ink and composition is as fresh as running water. it took several tries to figure out how to place the ink around my favourite little bird and after i had already ruined like ten or so prints, finally this one came out great !!

this inspired me to make more new stuff: i was thinking about more assorted gifttag sets and with all the new stamps i made lately, there were so many options! so i decided to make a floral, summerfresh set of gift tags:


and, because everybody including myself liked the little fox so much, here's a set of 5 different fox in the woods themed tags. hope you enjoy!

foxy notes

here's another sweet souvenir for all you paperlovers out there! last week i have created like 10 new stamps, including 3 fox stamps and this one is my favourite. printed on a little muji notepad, to remind you of all things you should note before you forget them :)

a thing i urgently need myself, as i am still struggling to get my life arranged in a business as usual order. today was more a whatnext?-day, i woke up quiet messy, like i have slept in a tent on some chaotic camping site. hot and steamy outside, even with the heavy early morning rain, damp and sweaty inside. i could not concentrate on anything. plus i was slightly pissed today by some guy on dawanda, for whom i have made a custom order print a while ago and who took not only the idea, but even the title for a print of his own. well, finally it happened to me, too! obviously it happens a lot. but well, i am a professional and no hobby artist and you see the difference, too. i guess my work has its own handwriting all over it and there are millions of bird prints and whatnot in the world and so many talented artists, who create much more beautiful work than i do. somebody even tried to remake my panda stamp and postcards, but well .. i like mine better, i got the skills ;)
sorry for the arrogance, but i needed to motivate myself a bit right now.
it's a great thing to inspire people, ideas are for free and vanish the instant moment they are born.
so, my note for myself today: i still have the original in my hands. in times of the internet how can you keep your copyright anyway?!

the trouble of choice

49 colors, 49 papers, 49 knives.............i have this pouch since i've been little (well, not that i've grown THAT much..), nowadays i carry my knives in it. and i totally agree with snoopy, the more flavours, the more possibilities you have! happy new perspectives opening up everywhere! so, which one to follow??

i have stocked up with supplies, new inks, stamp materials, paper, etc pp. and now i'm stuck within. it's very inspiring to have all this new stuff on hands, so i always get lost in whatelsestodo, i could try this and that or maybe do something like this...it's neverending!! like an addiction! and s o much fun! as an excuse for my day and night shifts i can say, that i had to pre-work some stuff, as i'm leaving for london on thursday. another event manager job. if it wasn't for the money, i would say: i have better things to do :)






49 colors, 49 inks, 49 stamps, 49 birds, 49 flowers, 49 panda bears, 49 mint leaves, 49 littlest greeting cards. i could not decide for one design so i made them all different in all variations.

work sleep work

it's been quiet a while since my last post - and phhhew, i wonder where i should start now, so much stuff going on !! my shops keep me busy, i'm producing like hell and creating new and more new things everyday. today i can feel it in my bones and i am soo tired. i don't know weekends anymore...

here are some 'old news' from the studio:


thats a new couple of hey bunnies collages! i loooove the gray tones combined with the coral pink. i call them 'raindrops/waiting for'. will list them on etsy later on...


a new style of small moleskines! i have used beautiful japanese papertape on these, comes out really nice! already listed on dawanda.



to make life even more complete, the sun was shining bright the last few weeks, so i spent some time in the garden, planting, watering, seeding, i love it! and the garden is superbeautiful, a real pleasure to wake up every morning and go outside for a cup of coffee between the blossoms and birds.
no need for umbrellas. they are patiently waiting for in rain in front of the door.

the house was already pink and blue when we came there. i can't imagine it any different now. through the little window you can see the lilac tree hugging the elder tree. they are guarding our little house from bad spritis ;)

so far so good. now i'm off to the studio again, working on a big multi-layered linocut print, a comission work for a calendar. my hands and shoulder are already wrecked and hurt, but i enjoy the challenge and I can't wait to see my first test print results! but patience first- and lots of work.

all that bird talk

last thursday, i went random in the studio. i felt like making something with no purpose, no production, no thinking, just playing around. first i could not decide what to do, paint, draw, but then i put out my cutting knives and felt the urgent need to cut! catching a glimpse of a tinysized bird swarm photo in my book of birds, i made a rough sketch on the linoleum and cutted away...





these are the test print results on vintage writing paper. need to post a closeup, the details and structures came out quite nice...

printing and packing

i've been busy last weekend! punching and printing hundreds of little paper sticks, sorting them, making little vellum bags and printing labels. promo bags that i send out with the orders. the little bags contain three handprinted paper stickers, in many different combinations. collect them all !! ;D

then i printed labels for my new product, the little paper crane greeting! i used to send out bags like this with bigger orders or for customers who already ordered several times. i also made some for dawanda promotion. the response was great, so i decided to make some altered version for my shop:



i am folding paper cranes for years now, mostly for no special reason or purpose, besides the few birdswarm installations i did some years ago. so almost every day, the basket with little cranes gets bigger and bigger, and i'm very happy i finally found a suitable way to pass them on.

this is thinned oil color on wood. my dear friend weiny gave me the little puppet. since its there, i had no need to finish the painting. consider it done!



this is a detail of an unfinished painting on canvas. i like this state so much, i don't dare to progress with my work on it. maybe i should leave it like this.



i spent the whole day in my bright and sunny studio, working on a little surprise for my big love. his birthday is next week and therefore i can't tell and show. psht! ;)

some of my friends from the studio area (an abandoned train station with old waggons as studios, i work in the old train station house, real messy, but mine!) came for a visit and lightened up my day. it has been a very inspiring day!

FLY AWAY with me

oh i just discovered: it must be a theme ! come away, fly away, with me...what comes next? roll with me, rock with me?! haha... i made THIS One some weeks ago with a linoprint of my favourite rabbit, the follow me bunny. he was inspired by a little silk plush bunny i have brought from kyoto and i lOve him! the yellow paper is from a chinese calligraphy exercise book and i like the mathematic aspect it adds to the whole thing. i'm gonna keep that for a while..

MY PRINT IN FRANKIE MGAZINE!!!!

aaaaahhhh this is sooooooOO cool: i just opened the mail box and found the march/april issue of australian frankie magazine with my poster in it! the hey bunnies are a centerfold now, HAHA!!

thats so awesome! the print came out great, i don't even dare to take it out yet. it looks sooo good.

and the best is: same issue features......KIM GORDON from Sonic youth. unbelievable, me and kim in one mag..haha! i feel honored. good company, also christina ricci is in.

I'm on it!!

Hello everybody!

It has taken quiet a while for me to become a blogger, and right now, finally it's done! Welcome to my first blog EVER :D

Let me introduce myself shortly: My name is Tinee, living and working in the south of Germany in a teeny tiny old house with little garden. And therefore I apologize in advance for any abuse of the english language, which is not my native one, but I am quiet used to the abuse of it (harhar) and am too lazy to post in 2 languages. Please let me know if this sucks! I am a fulltime artist, mainly into printmaking. My hands never stand still, it's a little maniac thing sometimes and I am always busy busy busy. But you all know, boredom is a major plague, so I constantly try to entertain myself! I write this blog to share some of this entertainement with you guys. I don't know how it happened that it came this far, but i guess it all started in my quiet nice childhood, when i rather stayed home reading or drawing and totally freaking out when my (still) sweet little sister crossed and ruined some of my drawings. Then I went to the fine arts school and this was when i seriously got infected with that dangerous art virus. I guess making art is more an attitude towards life than else. What else makes sense on this planet? I think a lot of contemporay art is quiet boring because it is so theoretical and self involved (like me, ha!). So I am more into a nostalgic way of things, i like to handmake stuff, give more respect to traditions and good craftsmanships, pay tribute to everdays beauty. To make a living of this is a huge challenge. Not only do you need to have great new fresh and sparkling ideas, but you also have to produce things, manage yourself, promote yourself, do your own marketing, plan your timetable and and and. Phhheww! For me it is mainly a question of how I want to spent my time. The older I get, the faster it runs. So, yeah, I spent most of my time creating. Everything I make is handmade from first step to the last. I am no good in anything digital. This is why some of my pics my might look quiet shabby ;(
Today is a gray rainy day, a good reason to stay inside, stroll the internet and later work on some new little fancy things.
